Fashion in NYC Day 3!
Wow! Day 3 here in NYC was amazing! We started the day working on our project at LIM! I am so glad that I was teamed with my group. We have become really good friends and I know that we will stay close even from afar!
I am blogger! So meeting the The Wanderlust Girls was awesome!! I love that they are not afraid to push the limits with their style! They have even styled some famous people from Macklemore to Saturday Night Live. How cool is that!!! I was researching their blog and website and it is so cool that they really push the limits! Although, I am young and can’t wait to really show you my style and I am learning that it is ok to be who you are while playing it safe!
And when I thought the day couldn’t get any better, I met Ty Wilson, a professional fashion illustrator . He has worked with many designesr but my favorite was Ralph Lauren! I have always had trouble with drawing so I was really nervous and afraid to put anything on paper. But Ty showed us how to simply draw what we see. It was such a relief to overcome that fear of drawing, I might not be perfect and have a lot to learn about drawing but at least I have a good foundation to start illustrating my visions.
After those two great lessons, Kate Walz, who is 16 and a new and upcoming fashion designer, showcased her collections. Several of us had the honor of modeling her collections for the “Fresh Flavors of Fashion open house.” It was so exciting actually getting to talk to her about her line. Her line is fun, classic with a great twist of color. She showed us that at our age you can do it if you put your mind to it.
After this great day at LIM, I headed to 5th Avenue to do some shopping with my mom. You can’t shop on 5th Ave without shopping at Tommy Hilfiger, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Bergdorf Goodman, Tiffany & Co and of course can’t leave 5th Ave without stopping at FAO Schwarz, to play on the Big Piano! I was looking at all the collections of these designers and found so much inspiration that my mind is overflowing with visions that I now feel confident I can put on paper!! It was a great day!
